Background information: Rose H. Robbins, Esq.

I was born in a refugee camp (a/k/a camp for displaced persons) in the American-occupied sector of Germany a few years after the end of WW2. My parents had fled from Poland to Ukraine in the days before the Nazi invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. The Russians forcibly resettled them to Siberia where they spent most of the remainder of WW2 under Stalin Communist rule. My parents ultimately obtained a visa for Canada where we settled in Montreal. From the conversations with my parents and other community members, I realized from an early age that the protection of human rights and the maintenance of the rule of law were the main weapons needed to fight successfully against the recurrence of the Jewish Holocaust and the other mass civilian slaughter during WW2. Further formal education reinforced those ideas.  I chose to become a lawyer based on that belief and the hope that my education would provide me with the best tools to do my part in this ongoing battle.
